The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; If there is any reaction; Both are transformed (Carl Gustav Jung)
As a couple I imagine it has been a long road for you both before you have found your way to my website.
Trying hard to resolve your issues or accept things the way they are in the hope that love is enough.
It can be easy to get into a cycle of “patching things up” and “just getting on”. However in my experience it isn’t long before the same issues reappear and so the cycle continues.
This cycle can be damaging, emotionally, to you as a person and to your relationship. It can erode the feelings of intimacy and joy that you once shared and deserve.
Throughout life we change as people and so our relationship changes too. Other issues can put strain on relationships such as money difficulties, bereavements, work issues to name but a few.
In some relationships there may be concerns regarding infidelity; which is painful and can raise feelings of anger, jealousy, resentment, self-doubt to name but a few.
How Can Seeing a Counsellor Help?
That’s a good question and one I often get asked.
There comes a point when something happens and it is enough to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. It becomes a “make or break” situation. However this can lead to confusion and not knowing what to do next. This is where counselling can help.
I will work with you to address the problem area(s) and how best to move forward in a way that is helpful to you both and to the relationship.
I do not judge your relationship or take sides.
I do not offer advice, however I may offer suggestions that will help you.
Being on neutral ground and having the intervention of a third party gives you a calm environment where issues can be discussed maturely and each party has the opportunity to be heard and understood.
What Can I Expect?
I understand it can be daunting seeking help and my aim is to make as comfortable and as less daunting as possible. I create an environment where you feel safe enough to be open and honest and work towards the outcomes that you want to achieve.
I am fully committed to our work and expect the same from my clients. To begin with sessions will take place weekly and I may set tasks for you as a couple to be carried out between sessions.
All relationships are unique and so I don’t feel it appropriate to be prescriptive about what course of action will take place or the number of sessions in total.
The first session may last 90 minutes. During this session there is a lot of information to be gathered and assessed.
Sessions thereafter will usually last 60 minutes, however in certain cases clients may request 90 minutes depending on their requirements.
Committing to Weekly Sessions
I understand that our lives can become busy juggling work and family etc. In cases where weekly sessions are not possible, I will adjust to what works for you both as a couple. As long as you are committed to the process the work involved will still be possible.
£70.00 per 1 hour session (pro rata thereafter)
